After much back and forth, I’ve decided to leave.
Yes, so generally if I don’t update for a long time, it’s because I lost passion.
It feels like there isn’t much more I can do.
I won’t review it here, next time I’ll write an article “How I ruined a company valued at 1 billion”.
25 weeks into the job (Jul. 6 2025)
Haven’t written a startup diary for a long time!
Indeed busy recently. I feel that technological progress and learning have been continuing, but product progress seems to have stagnated.
A little bit lost, but basically decided to change direction.
16 weeks into the job (May. 3 2025)
The day before yesterday, my girlfriend suddenly said to me: I feel like you guys are really going to get rich.
Shameless me: Elaborate.
Girlfriend: I feel like your product is no longer a toy, and only a short time has passed.
Workholic
Yes, it seems that more and more people around me have noticed my changes. Brothers say I’m going to get rich.
Recently counted the code base with cloc, it’s already 800k (including open source).
Effective code is about 150k, 4 months is already 1.5 times my code at Google.
There are many memes:
“We are all set, just missing a programmer” Then that programmer is me. Of course, this actually stems from the productivity revolution brought by generative AI.
“I have a friend…” Then I’m going to become that friend.
At the same time, I felt the pressure.
Not only responsible for the company, but also responsible for the brothers I pulled in.
Recently I also discovered my own changes, so I want to seriously share the changes.
1. Tech Knowledge
Practice is the essence. Recently implemented too many things, from a Google player who only knew internal infra to a system design veteran.
- From only knowing spanner to understanding various databases, then wrote postgres and Cloud sql
- From only knowing local python to familiar with Docker, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions
- From only knowing C++ to familiar with html, tsx, Dart
- Mastered git merge 😃
- Learned many development principles
- Learned basic curl, GET, POST
- Learned and practiced flask, fastapi, websocket
- Learned the whole process of building client app, server, database from 0
Basically believe that I can implement any idea.
2. Cognition
Personally experienced entrepreneurship, felt that the horizon expanded a circle.
- How to distribute responsibilities, what each position should do
- How to distribute shares, CEO, CTO, Founding Engineer
- Understand the core roles needed in the future
- Understood the logic and meaning of valuation.
- Understood the rhythm of financing.
Overall, roughly know how a startup company operates.
3. English
Two white bosses, English vocabulary has grown a big circle again.
It was very struggling when I first joined, many terms and abbreviations were unintelligible.
With the help of Auto transcript and ChatGPT, now the vocabulary has grown a big circle.
In fact, vocabulary really greatly affected my cognition.
4. Brain
Recently feel that the brain is under secondary development.
Although very irrelevant, my Rubik’s Cube skills have made a significant breakthrough again.
Feel that a lot of reading and new knowledge will indeed promote brain development.
The last time I felt this way was when I learned calculus and abstract algebra in undergraduate.
Then it seemed that there was no change for several years.
Then recently, really feel that the brain is developing again.
Feel that reading and mathematics are indeed good medicine for brain development.

Because of exceptional performance, recently officially became a cofounder, and also ready to start hiring! Very excited!
Might be a TLM, nervous and excited!
Also officially ready to move to the city of San Francisco, looking forward to it very much!
10 weeks into the job (Mar. 22 2025)
Recently seems to be on the right track, and also felt the lack of time.
Just at this point in time, feel that I should write something to record my feelings. However, recently seems a bit numb.
Not that I lost enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, more like got used to it.
Admittedly, there were doubts, whether continuing to work at Google was a better choice.
However, after a little thought, soon knew that joining a startup company was obviously a more correct choice.
Whether it is growth, or vision, and help for the future, I have made the most correct choice.
Closer to AI, and closer to the frontier of the world.
Seeing my AI reading “The Evolution of Things” has persisted for 30 days, very satisfied.
At the same time, also finished writing the first novel, very happy.
Other words, no need to moan without illness if there are not too many feelings. Let’s talk next time!
6 weeks into the startup! (Feb. 25 2025)
Recently felt the confusion and anxiety of entrepreneurs.
It seems that there are many things that can be done, but don’t know which are really important. Researched a lot recently, but wrote very little code. Some confusion about where to start.
About AI
Recently, my views on AI have changed again, which may be related to reading “The Evolution of Things”.
Basically returned to the humanity school from the AI adventist school.
Last year’s AGI
Let’s talk about AGI first. Last year I listened to many of Hinton’s speeches, mostly about being vigilant against the catastrophe of AI. Hinton’s speeches are very profound, very clear, without too much decoration, and very humorous.
Last year also started talking to ChatGPT every day, often starting to research a brand new field, including but not limited to psychology (how straight men pretend to have high F value), economics, philosophy, history, and the entire computer science. Indeed felt the power of AI. There were several nights holding the phone, asking questions and learning with ChatGPT, until 4 am.
Recently
However, there have been changes recently, that is, I feel that the existence of AI is too low to have such high compensation. This sentence means that the precision of AI makes it very fragile, so perhaps before human extinction, AI has already perished. Humans are powerless to fight back against the catastrophe, but “lower” creatures can. So even if AI is so advanced, it is difficult to get rid of the laws of physics. When extreme situations occur, all AI will be destroyed instantly. The precision of AI makes it harder to replace humans to fly out of the solar system. So believe more that the answer to the Fermi paradox is so simple, that is the laws of physics, unable to make any civilization fill the universe. Universe seeding is the earliest civilization, and also the most powerless resistance to the laws of the universe.
So AI can think at the speed of light, and will also be destroyed at the speed of light.
